Goldman 9.84g gold nugget discovery strengthens confidence in Southern Structural Target
Viking Mines Limited (ASX:VKA) has announced the recovery of several gold nuggets totalling 9.84 grams from the Southern Structural Target at its Riverina East Project, located in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.
The discovery was made over a ~310m x ~120m area, approximately 300m north of historic drill intercepts and near highly anomalous auger soil samples grading up to 98ppb. Historic drilling in the area returned standout results, including:
- 4m at 5.1 g/t gold
- 4m at 4.9 g/t gold
- 2m at 23.6 g/t gold (Bifrost South)
Viking has commenced a ~4,300m drilling campaign which includes ~1,500m across 9 holes at Bifrost South to follow up on recent high-grade intercepts, and ~2,800m for 23 holes targeting gold anomalies at the Southern Structural Target.
A drone magnetic geophysical survey is also underway across the Bifrost Target to enhance structural interpretation and guide future drill targeting.
The project sits along a 25km strike length of the Zuleika Shear Zone, approximately 4km east of Ora Banda Mining’s (ASX:OBM) >1.3Moz Riverina/Mulline Camp and 40km north of the 1.2Moz Davyhurst Camp.

Viking’s auger soil sampling activities, coupled with high-grade historic drill intercepts from last drilling completed in the 1980’s & 1990’s, has identified this as a priority target area.
The discovery of gold nuggets nearby only reinforces the significant prospectivity of the target.
We look forward to our initial drill testing of the Southern Structural Target and following up on recent high-grade intercepts at Bifrost South with results up to 2m at 23.6g/t Au. Drilling has commenced and will be completed in the coming weeks.
