Goldman High-grade gold intercept highlights potential of Bifrost Target within Zuleika Shear zone
Viking Mines Limited (ASX:VKA) has intersected high-grade visible gold at the Bifrost Target within its Riverina East Project (formerly First Hit Project), with new drilling returning standout intercepts and further confirming the mineralisation potential of the underexplored area.
The standout assay result came from drill hole VKRC0180, which delivered:
- 2m at 23.6g/t Au from 124m (with visible gold)
- 1m at 3.2g/t Au from 112m
- 1m at 1.5g/t Au from 108m
These intercepts lie within broader anomalous gold zones >50ppb, including:
- 6m at 8.0g/t Au from 123m
- 21m at 0.4g/t Au from 96m
The Bifrost Target remains open along a 1.7km northern and 1.1km southern corridor, with mineralisation hosted in dolerite – a known favourable lithology for significant gold deposits such as those at the St Ives Gold Camp.
Follow-up drilling is already underway to test extensions of VKRC0180, supported by additional mineralisation 700m to the west in hole VKRC0178, which intersected:
- 1m at 3.3g/t Au from 51m
Nearby hole VKRC0117 had previously returned:
- 1m at 2.3g/t Au from 98m
To date, 5,956m has been drilled in Phase 2, with assays received for 72% of the total.
The Riverina East Project covers 25km of strike along the Zuleika Shear and is located near Ora Banda Mining’s (ASX:OBM) Riverina/Mulline Camp (>1.3Moz) and the 1.2Moz Davyhurst Camp.

This is an exceptional result in an underexplored area of the Riverina East Project. The drilling result at Bifrost is exactly the style and type of mineralisation we have been targeting with our exploration programme.
We hold 25km of strike length along the prolific Zuleika Shear and it is renowned to host multiple significant deposits which are characterised by narrow veins, often <2m thickness but with exceptionally high grades.
The intercept is located within an underexplored area of the Bifrost Target, open along strike and downdip, and has confirmed the potential for the project to deliver high grade gold in a prolific gold district, at a time of record gold price.
