Kilkenny discovery strengthens structural model and opens satellite potential near Glenburgh
Benz Mining Corp (ASX:BNZ) has announced a new ultra-high-grade gold discovery at the Kilkenny Zone, located beneath the historic Hibernian Gold Mine within its Mt Egerton Gold Project in Western Australia.
The discovery marks a significant validation of the company’s structural geological model, with drilling intersecting exceptional grades and reinforcing the potential for repeated high-grade lodes along a broader mineralised corridor.
Key standout drill results include:
- 7m at 223 g/t gold from 270m (26EGN013)
- including 11m at 144 g/t gold
- 9m at 107 g/t gold (historical Hibernian intercept)
- 5m at 96 g/t gold
- 4m at 92 g/t gold
The Kilkenny Zone is interpreted as a structural repeat of the Hibernian orebody, supporting the potential for multiple stacked high-grade shoots within the system. Mineralisation is associated with a classic orogenic gold setting, controlled by dilation zones formed through oblique shear interactions with a folded gabbro sill.
Importantly, the Mt Egerton project sits დაახლოებით 170km from the company’s flagship Glenburgh Gold Project and is increasingly being viewed as a potential high-grade satellite source. Several additional undrilled structural targets have already been identified along the same corridor, including the Galway Prospect.
Regional work continues to highlight Mt Egerton as part of an emerging gold camp, with multiple prospects such as Mako, Gift, and Trading Post showing encouraging signs of mineralisation. Large portions of the district remain untested, with more than 20km of prospective strike identified.
Benz CEO, Mark Lynch-Staunton
What is most encouraging about the Kilkenny discovery is that it confirms the structural framework our team has been developing at the Mt Egerton Goldfield. The mineralisation occurs within the predicted dilation position beneath the Hibernian Mine, which gives us confidence that the geological model is working.
The same geological team that unlocked the exploration potential at our flagship Glenburgh Project is now applying that approach at Mt Egerton. While Glenburgh remains our primary focus, we see the Mt Egerton Goldfield as a highly underexplored gold district where modern structural interpretation is beginning to reveal new opportunities.
From a strategic perspective, we view Mt Egerton as a complementary high-grade satellite opportunity to Glenburgh. Importantly, large parts of the Mt Egerton Goldfield remain effectively untested, with more than 20km of prospective strike identified across the district, which means the discovery potential across the district remains significant.
