Step-out drilling extends strike to 750m with mineralisation open in all directions
Skylark Minerals Limited (ASX:SKM) has reported strong assay results from eighteen reverse circulation (RC) drill holes at the M’Basso Zone within its Zaranou Gold Project in Côte d’Ivoire, confirming both strike and depth extensions to the gold system.
The latest drilling has defined two continuous zones of gold mineralisation, with multiple broad intersections of up to 62 metres. Step-out drilling extending up to 200 metres beyond the historic air core grid has pushed the known mineralised strike to at least 750 metres, with mineralisation remaining open in all directions.
Phase 1 drilling, comprising 38 holes, is now complete with assays pending for eight holes. Phase 2 is underway targeting north-east extensions at M’Basso. Drilling is also set to commence at the Ehuasso Zone in July, which hosts an inferred Mineral Resource Estimate of 336,400 ounces at 1.8 g/t gold.
Results continue to support the potential for resource growth at Zaranou, with extensions confirmed at depth alongside lateral expansion.
Key drill results include:
- 62m at 1.41 g/t Au from 114m, including 23m at 2.41 g/t Au from 153m and 15m at 3.09 g/t Au from 160m, including 4m at 6.99 g/t Au
- 40m at 0.79 g/t Au from 82m, including 5m at 2.64 g/t Au from 117m and 1m at 12.75 g/t Au
- 38m at 0.67 g/t Au from 90m, including 17m at 1.06 g/t Au and 5m at 1.67 g/t Au
- 33m at 0.92 g/t Au from 76m, including 10m at 1.78 g/t Au from 93m
These results reinforce the presence of coherent high-grade zones and highlight the growing scale of the M’Basso system.
SKM Executive Chair Nikolai Zelenski said:
Our strategy at M’Basso was to start from the ‘known’ and extend into the unknown. We are pleased that we are seeing what was expected inside the historic air core grid and are now seeing confirmation of upside potential beyond what was previously known. Drill holes targeting both along strike and depth potential are returning meaningful intercepts that confirm the success of both the current campaign and the geological interpretation that underpinned the decision to acquire.
This bodes very positively for a meaningful increase in our Zaranou MRE later this year, and the rapid accumulation of encouraging results is ultimately increasing our confidence that Zaranou has the potential to become an operating gold mine in the future, as remains our aspiration for the Project.
