Initial air-core assays highlight promising intercepts at Great Southern’s Duketon Gold Project
Great Southern Mining Limited (ASX:GSN) has completed an ~8,000m air-core drilling program at the Amy Clarke prospect, part of its 100%-owned Duketon Gold Project in Western Australia, returning multiple shallow gold intercepts across a 4.5km strike.
Assay results have been received for 3,500m of drilling, with standout intersections including:
- 2m at 23.9 g/t Au from 10m in hole 25ACAC0007
- 11m at 1.2 g/t Au from 25m, including 6m at 1.7 g/t Au in hole 25ACAC0057
- 2m at 1.5 g/t from 30m in hole 25ACAC0067
These results extend previously defined mineralisation from GSN’s 2021 drilling, which included:
- 8m at 6.73 g/t Au from 32m, including 4m at 12.5 g/t Au in hole 21ACAC147
- 4m at 2.13 g/t Au from surface in hole 21ACAC038
- 1m at 3.95 g/t Au from 47m in hole 21ACAC029
The new drilling confirms a shallow gold zone extending over 4.5km within a 5km gold-in-soil anomaly. Importantly, the high-grade 23.9 g/t Au intercept in hole 25ACAC0007 sits at the southernmost end of the current drilling, with potential extensions to the south yet to be tested.
The remainder of the ~8,000m air-core program—around 4,500m—is still pending, with assays expected in late November 2025. Follow-up reverse circulation (RC) drilling is planned for Q1 CY26.
Additionally, a ~7,000m RC drilling program is underway at the nearby Golden Boulder discovery, with results anticipated in late November or December. In Queensland, diamond drilling is continuing at the Edinburgh Park joint venture, targeting the Megan Veins, where surface rock chips have returned grades up to 10 g/t gold.
GSN’s Managing Director, Matthew Keane, commented:
GSN has methodically worked up the Amy Clarke prospect and these results confirm shallow gold over 4.5km of strike. The latest drilling program is only the second at this prospect by the Company, before which, the area was only sparsely drilled with rotary air blast (RAB) by Sons of Gwalia in the 1990s.
Importantly, the shallow mineralisation we are seeing is hosted in semi-fresh rock – a key indicator that we’re now defining the host geology and the primary structures controlling mineralisation. Given the extensive strike length of the Amy Clarke surface gold anomaly and the prospect’s location on known gold bearing structures, GSN sees significant gold potential at Amy Clarke.
