SATURN OPENS NEW NORTHERN FRONT AT APOLLO HILL

Wide-spaced drilling has extended the Apollo Hill gold system up to one kilometre north of the current 2.83Moz Mineral Resource.

Saturn Metals Limited (ASX:STN) has reported new aircore, reverse-circulation and diamond drilling results from the northern end of its Apollo Hill Gold Project near Leonora in Western Australia.

The first-pass drilling, completed on sections spaced between 100m and 400m, intersected gold mineralisation beyond the current Mineral Resource footprint and extended the known system along strike by at least one kilometre.

Selected new results include:

  • 5m at 11.26g/t Au from 49m in AHRC1698.
  • 7.5m at 3.41g/t Au from 30.5m in AHDD0103, including 1.5m at 16.48g/t Au from 32m.
  • 6m at 3.23g/t Au from 324m in AHRC1676.
  • 11m at 1.05g/t Au from 297m in AHRC1670.
  • 0.4m at 14.25g/t Au from 97.75m in AHDD0145, associated with visible gold.

Saturn said the 5m at 11.26g/t Au intersection was logged in alluvial gravels at the interface with underlying bedrock and could represent either mineralisation associated with the bedrock or deep-lead-style alluvial mineralisation.

The intersections are reported as down-hole widths, with true widths estimated by the company at about 60% of the down-hole widths.

A 50-hole, 10,000m RC infill programme is under way across the northern extension. The programme is intended to support a Mineral Resource update planned for the coming months.

Saturn’s Managing Director, Ian Bamborough, said:

This represents our first major step-out to test the growth potential to the north of Apollo Hill. Our recent resource upgrade and geological interpretation highlighted a clear opportunity to extend the system to the north, and this first-pass drilling has intersected gold mineralisation up to 1km beyond the current 2.83Moz Resource. Importantly, we are seeing both broad zones of mineralisation and discrete high-grade zones across this northern extension, reinforcing our view that Apollo Hill has the potential to grow into a much larger, laterally extensive gold system. In-fill drilling is already underway with a 50-hole 10,000m RC drill program to support a Mineral Resource upgrade planned for the coming months.
