Kalgoorlie Gold Mining advances with promising intercepts and follow-up plans
Kalgoorlie Gold Mining (ASX: KAL) has confirmed the presence of primary gold mineralisation beneath the supergene blanket at its Lighthorse prospect, part of the Company’s Pinjin Project, located 140 km northeast of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Initial reverse circulation (RC) drilling has validated the extension of mineralisation at depth, with further drilling programs now being planned. The Lighthorse mineralised system is interpreted to remain open down dip and along strike.
Top drill intercepts from the Lighthorse discovery include:
- KGRC25001: 9 m at 3.52 g/t Au from 58 m, including 2 m @ 13.65 g/t Au
and 3 m at 5.52 g/t Au from 133 m, including 2 m @ 7.92 g/t Au - KGRC25004: 8 m at 1.54 g/t Au from 56 m, including 2 m @ 3.19 g/t Au
- KGRC25010: 2 m at 3.04 g/t Au from 76 m, including 1 m @ 4.99 g/t Au
- KGRC25013: 3 m at 2.58 g/t Au from 112 m, including 1 m @ 6.24 g/t Au
- KGRC25014: 5 m at 2.64 g/t Au from 147 m
Broad mineralised zones associated with veining and alteration were also encountered, such as:
- 32 m @ 1.14 g/t Au from 55 m (KGRC25001)
- 16 m @ 0.87 g/t Au from 54 m (KGRC25004)
- 12 m @ 1.29 g/t Au from 147 m (KGRC25014)
KalGold plans further aircore drilling to extend the strike at Lighthorse over 2.4 km and will follow up with infill and extensional RC drilling. A multifaceted geophysical survey is also scheduled to refine targets.
Commenting on the results, KalGold Managing Director Matt Painter said:
First-pass RC drilling was designed to confirm whether primary gold mineralisation at Lighthorse extends to depth, which it has done resoundingly. We now move to the next phase of drilling to resolve the extent and orientation of gold mineralisation. This multi-stage approach will provide all the necessary ingredients to move towards definition of a JORC Code (2012) Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE).
