NewPeak completes more than 1,800m of drilling at its Argentine gold project, with first samples submitted for expedited assaying.
NewPeak Metals Limited (ASX:NPM) has reported that 1,834m of HQ diamond drilling has been completed across five holes at its Las Opeñas Gold Project in San Juan Province, Argentina, as the company advances a program targeting extensions of historic gold and polymetallic mineralisation.
The initial 2,500m drilling campaign is designed to test extensions of anomalies identified through historical drilling, particularly within an 800m by 600m breccia area. The program remains on track for completion later this month.
Key drilling and exploration highlights include:
- ~1,800m of HQ diamond drilling completed across five holes at Las Opeñas.
- First drill hole (663m depth) delivered to ALS in Mendoza for expedited “rush” assaying.
- Testing extensions of historic gold and polymetallic anomalies within a large breccia target area.
- Historic hole 12-LODH-03 returned 115m at 0.58g/t gold, 3.5g/t silver, 0.24% lead and 0.65% zinc from 18m to end of hole, providing a key target for the current campaign.
The first drill hole, designated LODH023, has been completed to a depth of 663m. Core cutting has been finished and samples have been submitted to ALS in Mendoza, with expedited assay processing requested to accelerate the delivery of results.
NewPeak said permitting is already in place and the company intends to evaluate an extension of the current program as part of its ongoing technical review and broader exploration strategy.
Managing Director, Mark Purcell, commented:
The drilling underway at Las Opeñas represents the continued execution of NewPeak’s exploration strategy and another clear pathway to value creation.
The first 2,500m has been designed to systematically test priority targets in the breccia area identified through our 2025 geologic review, and with permitting in place and infrastructure and contractor arrangements currently being utilised, NewPeak is well positioned to move quickly into a subsequent drilling phase informed by our assay results from this first 2,500m.
Las Opeñas has the potential to be a large-scale, gold-dominant polymetallic system situated in San Juan Province, one of the premier mining jurisdictions not just in Argentina, but globally.
Combined with the promising results from Tansey in Queensland, NewPeak offers compelling dual-asset upside at what remains a very low entry point.
