Strong rock chip results confirm prospectivity at Baucau and Oussu ahead of planned exploration push
Tivan Limited (ASX:TVN) has identified high-grade copper-gold mineralisation across multiple المواقع at its Baucau and Oussu Projects in Timor-Leste, following initial reconnaissance surface sampling.
Assay results from 12 rock chip samples returned standout grades of up to 17.4% copper and 38.1g/t gold, alongside cobalt values reaching 0.45%, reinforcing the projects’ potential for high-grade mineral systems.
The results also align with historical exploration data from previous concession holders, further validating the geological prospectivity across both project areas.
Key assay highlights include:
- 17.4% Cu and 38.1g/t Au from rock chip sampling
- 0.45% Co confirming additional critical mineral potential
- Historical results: up to 37.8g/t Au
- Historical results: up to 14.59% Cu
- Historical results: up to 1.12% Co
The Baucau and Oussu Projects are located approximately 123km east of Dili within the mineral-rich Outer Banda Arc, a region known for hosting major copper-gold deposits. Despite its geological potential, Timor-Leste remains underexplored, providing Tivan with a relatively early-mover advantage.
Geology at Baucau includes serpentinite, basaltic volcanic units and magnetite-bearing shear zones—favourable settings for volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) and skarn-style mineralisation. At Oussu, the presence of serpentinite, gabbroic intrusions and sedimentary sequences further supports exploration upside.
Tivan is now advancing plans for regional-scale, on-ground exploration in the June quarter, including additional surface sampling and mapping. The company is also reviewing existing geophysical datasets and preparing for further surveys to refine drill targets.
Tivan Executive Chairman, Grant Wilson
We are very pleased to share these results today, that will resonate deeply in Timor-Leste, particularly the discovery of high-grade gold. Tivan will be working closely with community and stakeholders in the Oussu and Baucau regions in the months ahead to consolidate our social license to operate and to plan forward works. Our local team remains at the forefront of these endeavors, working in close collaboration with ANM, Murak Rai and Instituto de Geociências de Timor-Leste (“IGTL”).
Tivan is proud to be playing a leading role in the development of the mineral resources sector in Timor-Leste.
