Marmota’s first assays from Greenewood deliver standout near-surface gold hits
Marmota Limited (ASX:MEU) has reported the first assay results from its maiden drilling campaign at the Greenewood gold discovery in South Australia, just 35km from its flagship Aurora Tank project. The company has confirmed multiple high-grade intersections, with several standout results from shallow depths.
The initial results highlight significant near-surface gold intercepts, including:
- 24m @ 12 g/t gold from 20m, including:
- 4m @ 38 g/t gold from 24m
- 4m @ 14 g/t gold from 28m
- in Hole 25GWRC046
- 28m @ 5.6 g/t gold from 24m, including:
- 4m @ 29 g/t gold from 24m
- in Hole 25GWRC094
- 12m @ 20 g/t gold from 20m
- 4m @ 10 g/t gold from 20m in Hole 25GWRC005
- 12m @ 4.1 g/t gold from 60m, including:
- 4m @ 10 g/t gold from 60m
- in Hole 25GWRC054
The Greenewood drilling campaign, completed just 13 days ago, marks the first drilling at the site since 2018. More assays are expected in early October.
Greenewood is part of the Golden Moon JV, with Marmota holding a 90% interest via its wholly owned subsidiary Half Moon Pty Ltd. The site has seen minimal historic drilling (~7,000m of RC drilling), and is strategically located near Marmota’s 100%-owned Aurora Tank project.
Marmota Chairman, Dr Colin Rose, said:
Marmota is delighted with the first batch of Greenewood assays already arriving that are yielding stunning thick gold intersections, so close to surface. The results already exceed our expectations, and with 52 holes still incoming.
Marmota now owns every unmined gold deposit within a 10,000m² area of the Gawler Craton, along the emerging Gawler Gold belt. Our Gawler gold project is going from strength to strength featuring bonanza grades at Aurora Tank, Campfire Bore and now Greenewood, all complementing Aurora Tank brilliantly. Our Gawler gold program is making great progress in every respect, with further gold updates shortly on the way.
