GOLD RESOURCES JUMP 34% TO OVER 1.23MOZ

Hirsikangas maiden resource lifts Nordic Resources’ inventory with near-surface high-grade gold

Nordic Resources (ASX:NNL), has reported a 34% increase in total gold equivalent resources to 1.23 million ounces (AuEq) following the maiden Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) for its Hirsikangas project in Finland.

The new JORC (2012) compliant MRE for Hirsikangas adds 264,000 ounces of gold at 1.13g/t Au, contributing to the company’s regional development pipeline. The resource comprises:

  • 2.69 million tonnes at 1.17g/t Au for 101,000 ounces in the Indicated category, and
  • 4.60 million tonnes at 1.10g/t Au for 163,000 ounces in the Inferred category.

Highlight drill results from Hirsikangas include:

  • 71.3 metres at 1.12g/t Au from 7.3 metres (R317)
  • 44.2 metres at 1.45g/t Au from 12.7 metres (BELHIRSIO05)
  • 61.2 metres at 1.28g/t Au from 37.8 metres (R324)
  • 80.2 metres at 1.71g/t Au from 110.6 metres (R316)
  • 7.3 metres at 4.78g/t Au from 48.0 metres (BELHIRSIO30)

The Hirsikangas project covers only 2.5km of a 10km prospective trend and remains open along strike and at depth, with deeper intersections demonstrating strong continuity.

Including Hirsikangas, Nordic Resources’ combined gold inventory at the Hirsikangas, Kopsa, and Kiimala Trend projects stands at 34.3 million tonnes at 1.11g/t AuEq for 1.23 million ounces AuEq. Of this, 66% is classified in the Measured and Indicated categories, including 1.04 million ounces of contained gold.

Hirsikangas, similar to Kopsa and Angesneva, is a near-surface orogenic gold deposit with exploration upside and synergies with existing processing infrastructure in the region.

Robert Wrixon, Executive Director, said:

Hirsikangas was somewhat of unknown in this transaction, with the Company’s focus firmly on the Kopsa. However, just like Kopsa and Angesneva, the gold resource at Hirsikangas essentially starts from surface and is far more substantial than previously understood by NNL, with obvious exploration upside. The addition of Hirsikangas brings the total gold equivalent resource inventory to 1.23Moz AuEq, with 66% in the Measured and Indicated categories. The Company’s “gold only” resources have also increased to over 1Moz. Hirsikangas and Angesneva, with their proximity to Kopsa, add significant value to the regional development options currently under consideration.
