Results highlight broad gold mineralisation and rare earth elements footprint at Laverton project
Catalina Resources Ltd (ASX: CTN) has announced promising assay results from recent aircore drilling at the Laverton Project (E38/3697) in Western Australia, completed in September 2024.
The latest results reveal a substantial gold intersection in hole LVAC049, with significant mineralisation extending across the sampled interval. Key intersections include:
- 44m at 1.01 g/t gold (Au) from 44m, including:
- 4m at 2.22 g/t Au
- 4m at 1.96 g/t Au
- 8m at 1.45 g/t Au
LVAC049 mineralisation remains open at depth, supporting a broad NNW-trending mineralised zone along the Barnicoat Shear Zone. This hole is situated near LVAC012, which returned 3m at 1.07 g/t Au, and LVAC009, which delivered 1m at 2.42 g/t Au from earlier 2024 drilling.
Additionally, the findings expand the rare earth element (REE) mineralisation footprint, associated with several intrusion-related magnetic anomalies, indicating further exploration potential.
Catalina’s Executive Chairman, Sanjay Loyalka, said:
We continue to be encouraged by the results at Laverton. The gold intersection in LVAC049 confirms the previous results in holes LVAC012 and LVAC009 and in combination with the intersections in LVAC038, LVAC039 and LVAC043 appears to suggest a broad NNW trending zone, primarily in the laterite (supergene) and significantly upgrades the prospectivity of the gold target area.
This intersection is a material upgrade to the width and grades reported in the previous program with one four-metre interval greater than 2g/t Au. While providing confirmation of the original intersection in LVAC012 and LVAC009, it also suggests the hole is closer to the source of the gold mineralisation which is interpreted to be a splay of the Barnicoat Shear Zone.
