BOBIJA DRILLING EXTENDS GOLD-SILVER SYSTEM

Phase 2 drilling expands mineralised footprint to around 80,000m², with broad near-surface intercepts and the system remaining open in all directions.

Middle Island Resources Limited (ASX:MDI) has reported final assay results from its Phase 2 reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Bobija project in Serbia, with the latest drilling significantly expanding the known gold-silver-base metal mineralised system.

The Phase 2 program has increased the defined mineralised footprint to approximately 80,000m² across the Central, North and West zones. The company said the mineralisation remains open in all directions, with high-grade mineralisation continuing at the current limits of drilling.

Among the standout drill results reported were:

  • BMLRC024: 13m at 1.87g/t gold, 93.2g/t silver, 0.30% copper, 1.46% lead and 0.68% zinc from 3m.
  • BMLRC023: 40m at 1.23g/t gold, 64.0g/t silver, 0.15% copper, 0.99% lead and 0.92% zinc from 1m.
  • BMLRC028: 28m at 1.18g/t gold, 66.6g/t silver, 0.19% copper, 1.22% lead and 1.62% zinc from 20m.
  • BMLRC022: 41m at 1.03g/t gold, 52.9g/t silver, 0.17% copper, 0.94% lead and 1.26% zinc from 1m.

The company said the latest drilling continues to demonstrate that Bobija is a large, shallow, laterally extensive gold-silver-base metal system. While historic exploration at the project largely focused on lead and zinc mineralisation, the new drilling continues to highlight gold and silver as major contributors throughout the system.

Phase 3 drilling is being planned to test multiple open extensions and further define the limits of the mineralised horizon.

MDI Chief Executive Officer, Peter Spiers commented:

Bobija is rapidly emerging as a major shallow gold-silver discovery. Every area we’ve drilled has returned broad, near-surface mineralisation, and we still haven’t found the limits of the system. High-grade mineralisation continues to be encountered at the current limits of drilling, which gives us considerable confidence that the system can continue to grow.

Another exciting outcome is the significant gold and silver mineralisation encountered. Historic work targeted lead, zinc and barite and largely overlooked gold, but our drilling is consistently demonstrating that gold and silver comprise a dominant part of the Bobija system. With only a relatively small proportion of the interpreted mineralised horizon drilled to date, the Company believes Bobija has considerable scope to continue growing through systematic exploration.
