BLIND GOLD HIT AT LEONORA SOUTH

Aircore drilling at Whistler has outlined multiple new mineralised zones, with shallow high-grade intercepts pointing to a broader gold system under cover.

GoldArc Resources Limited (ASX:GAR) has reported high-grade 1-metre assay results from its recently completed aircore drilling program at the Whistler prospect within the Leonora South Gold Project, with the program identifying new blind gold mineralised systems under cover.

The company said drilling defined multiple mineralised zones, with the easternmost zone remaining open-ended and coinciding with a magnetic low. The results are being interpreted as a strong indication of potentially unrecognised gold mineralisation within the broader Leonora South project area.

Better shallow intercepts from the program included:

  • 1m at 7.20 g/t Au from 46m in hole NWAC038
  • 1m at 2.36 g/t Au from 38m in hole NWAC035
  • 1m at 1.29 g/t Au from 39m in hole NWAC036
  • 3m at 1.49 g/t Au from 8m in hole NWAC042, including 3m at 0.66 g/t Au from 8m
  • 3m at 0.58 g/t Au from 32m in hole NWAC053

GoldArc said an AC drilling program is due to begin within days to follow up the targets, while a major 6,500m RC drilling program is planned at the Orion, Sapphire, Eclipse and Euroa deposits. A 34,000m RC grade control program is also underway at the Mt Stirling deposit.

GoldArc Resources Managing Director, Paul Stephen commented:

The maiden AC drilling program has proven to be a technical success, identifying ‘blind’ gold mineralisation in an area with limited historical work. At Whistler, we have defined multiple mineralised zones within a geological setting that shows several similarities to felsic intrusives associated with the Gruyere deposit.
