Goldman Maiden program returns up to 13.75g/t gold at Maori Queen and 9.68g/t at Plantagenet
Avira Resources Limited (ASX:AVW) has reported results from the first 13 holes of its 19-hole maiden reverse-circulation drilling program at the Mt Cattlin Gold Project near Ravensthorpe in Western Australia.
The results confirm gold mineralisation at the Maori Queen and Plantagenet prospects. At Maori Queen, drilling indicates the historically mined high-grade shoot remains open at depth, while Plantagenet mineralisation has been traced over at least 180 metres of strike.
Selected drill results include:
- RAGC108 at Maori Queen: 4m @ 3.86g/t Au from 23m, including 1m @ 13.75g/t Au from 24m.
- RAGC102 at Plantagenet: 8m @ 2.77g/t Au from 16m, including 2m @ 9.68g/t Au from 34m, as reported by Avira.
- RAGC101 at Plantagenet: 1m @ 6.14g/t Au from 67m.
- RAGC107 at Maori Queen: 5m @ 1.1g/t Au from surface, including 1m @ 3.55g/t Au.
- RAGC106 at Maori Queen: 5m @ 1.02g/t Au from 45m.
Avira estimates a downhole-to-true-width ratio of about 0.75 at Maori Queen and about 0.65 at Plantagenet. Results from the remaining holes are still to come.

These maiden results from our first pass of drilling at Mt Cattlin are highly encouraging, confirming high-grade gold at both Maori Queen and Plantagenet — including standout intercepts of 13.75 g/t Au at Maori Queen and 9.68 g/t Au at Plantagenet — and confirming that the historic high-grade Maori Queen shoot remains open at depth.
Our geological model is being confirmed and refined with every hole, and these are still early, preliminary interpretations of what is shaping up to be a genuinely exciting gold system. With further Maori Queen results still to come from holes targeted specifically beneath the historic high-grade intercepts, and Plantagenet already showing repetition potential along strike, we see real scope to keep growing this discovery.
The next phase will complete the Maori Queen RC program and commence drilling at Sirdar and Ellendale for the first time, extending our search across the full breadth of the Mt Cattlin project. We look forward to providing updates as further results come to hand.
