New infill assays support the proposed Stage 1 open pit at Mandilla
Astral Resources NL (ASX:AAR) has reported assay results from the next 41 holes, covering 4,456 metres, in its ongoing reverse circulation infill drilling program at the Theia deposit within the Mandilla Gold Project near Kalgoorlie.
The latest Stage 1 infill intercepts recorded a weighted average grade of 1.54g/t gold. Astral said the program is designed to support conversion of Stage 1 Mineral Resources to the Measured category and increase confidence in the early mine plan.
Better results from the latest batch include:
- AMRC446: 7 metres at 10.4g/t gold from 133 metres, including 1 metre at 53.0g/t gold from 133 metres and 1 metre at 17.8g/t gold from 139 metres.
- AMRC431: 13 metres at 5.00g/t gold from 36 metres, including 1 metre at 36.8g/t gold from 41 metres and 1 metre at 19.0g/t gold from 46 metres.
- AMRC410: 4 metres at 13.5g/t gold from 106 metres, including 1 metre at 45.7g/t gold from 107 metres.
- AMRC444: 11 metres at 4.00g/t gold from 34 metres, including 1 metre at 24.6g/t gold from 42 metres.

A separate reverse circulation hole with a diamond tail, AMRCD374, was terminated at 318.9 metres before reaching its intended target because of excessive deviation. It nevertheless intersected multiple mineralised intervals, including 1 metre at 219g/t gold from 25 metres, 3 metres at 15.4g/t gold from 141 metres and 13 metres at 2.29g/t gold from 62 metres.
The Theia deposit hosts a Mineral Resource Estimate of 41.0 million tonnes at 1.1g/t gold for 1.4 million ounces. The proposed Stage 1 open pit encompasses 4.2 million tonnes at 1.1g/t gold for 146,000 ounces.
Astral said 225 holes for 22,705 metres have now been completed in the Stage 1 infill program, with a further 206 holes for approximately 21,248 metres planned. Assays are also pending for seven holes from the continuing Theia Deeps diamond drilling program.
Astral Resources managing director Marc Ducler:
These latest results from the Theia in-fill RC program continue to validate our geological and Mineral Resource models within the proposed Stage 1 open pit, while also reinforcing the high-grade nature of the highly altered zones within the host granite.
Importantly, we are continuing to see substantial widths of mineralisation together with discrete high-grade zones, with standout results including 7m at 10.4g/t Au, 13m at 5.0g/t Au, 4m at 13.5g/t Au and 11m at 4.0g/t Au in addition to numerous other significant intercepts. The average weighted grade of 1.54g/t Au across this latest batch of assays gives us further confidence that the current program is not only delivering on but exceeding expectations.
